Founded in 1981, Descartes Systems Group is a Canadian multinational technology company that specialises in logistics software, cloud-based services for logistics businesses and supply chain software.
Descartes is the global leader in providing on-demand, software-as-a-service solutions focused on improving the productivity, performance, and security of logistics-intensive businesses. Customers use their modular, software-as-a-service solutions to route, schedule, track, and measure delivery resources; plan, allocate and execute shipments; rate, audit and pay transportation invoices; access global trade data; file customs and security documents for imports and exports; and complete numerous other logistics processes by participating in the world’s largest, collaborative multimodal logistics community.
Their headquarters are in Waterloo, Canada, and they have many offices and partners around the world.
The Requirement
Their new Chippenham office is located just a five-minute walk away from their current one, in the heart of the town centre.
Following a telephone call by a member of the Business Development team at Oaktree Interiors, it transpired that Descartes was looking into an office relocation project. An initial face-to-face meeting was held to obtain their project brief, followed by a site survey by the Oaktree team.
Comprising of 2,700 sq ft, the design brief we were given stipulated that the new office must balance the fine line between promotional branding for clients, as well as being an open, inclusive office for all styles of working.
What Oaktree’s Design Proposal Included:
- A branded meet and greet area.
- A boardroom and training room.
- A HR office.
- Small and medium-sized meeting rooms.
- An open-plan working area with sit-stand desks.
- Hot desking facilities and booths.
- An IT room.
- Lockers and storage facilities
What Oaktree Delivered
We fitted out several cellular offices, along with two meeting rooms, and a modern high-end boardroom.
To ensure we were fitting out the office parallel to the client’s brief, we created an open plan desking area for permanent members of staff and included hot desks for field and home-based staff to use whenever they come to the office. A fresh, modern, and relaxing breakout area was created for the staff to use when taking a break from work.
The project was successfully completed on time, within budget and to the satisfaction of the management and staff at Descartes.
